I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Oh, Christmas.. we get so excited about you months and months in advance.. yet you arrive quickly and after one day, you're over.

My family and I spent Christmas at my house this year, and it was fun. We used to live in an apartment and we very rarely invited people over because there weren't enough square feet to accommodate more than 4 people at a time. (Okay, I'm exaggerating.) It was great because aaall my relatives from my mom's side came over- my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. There's nothing like preparing your house, doing last minute cleaning (i.e. vacuuming like crazy, making your bathrooms presentable and running around hiding things under your bed), then waiting at your front door and watching everyone arrive, family by family. But the best part is watching everyone laugh and have fun while being at your house. The night consisted of lots of food, dessert and Guitar Hero: World Tour. Oh yes, I plugged my wii in and we started playing at about 6pm.. and turned it off at about 11:30. I think I must have heard Eye of The Tiger at least 40 times last night. Everyone had a go, even my (colourblind) grandpa. He was surprisingly better at the drums than me. I can't even complete one minute of a song.

I ended up going to bed at 1am, and woke at 11. Mike bought me the season 1 boxset of The Monkees and I watched the first disc today. Knock it all you want, I don't care. I love it. Same goes for Perfect Strangers, which I found at JB Hi-Fi for $16! Now I'm just waiting for Welcome Back, Kotter. I wanted to check out the Boxing Day sales today but I really could not be bothered leaving the house. I do hope there's still some good stuff in my size.

I'm really enjoying my holidays. So far, I've spent most of the time watching tv shows on my laptop. I've just started watching Chuck (Josh Schwartz, you are amazing) and I've almost finished the first season of How I Met Your Mother. Yes, I know- but better late than never. I'm rather upset that Pushing Daisies was cancelled. It's quite disturbing to know that quality shows are being flushed down the toilet while Two and a Half Men is in its sixth (?) season.

I'm enjoying my holidays so much that I kind of don't want to go back to uni. I don't even know what units to do next semester! I was planning on majoring in Cultural Studies, but on second thought, I didn't really enjoy those classes that much. I really loved Linguistics, but job opportunities are there for grammarians?

I've noticed lots of my friends have been joining Twilight fangroups. Yeah I'm still not buying into that sparkly vampire shit.

I really can't believe Christmas is just one week away. Actually, scratch that- I can't believe 2009 is almost here.

The year went by so quickly that I keep stopping to recap what I actually did this year. Let's see...
  • I finished my first year of uni.
  • Learned to speak Spanish.
  • Found out Anthropology wasn't as exciting as I had thought.
  • Joined the '10 years to 30' club.
  • Coloured my hair pink, red and purple. One colour at a time, of course.
  • Cut my hair the shortest it had been since I was like, 10.
  • Celebrated my 3-year anniversary with my awesome boyfriend.
  • Bought wii fit with the intention of using it everyday. Used it religiously for a week, and afterwards only used it on the odd day when I had nothing else to do.
  • Discovered that I didn't need pricey branded products like ProActiv- simple, inexpensive papaya soap was the answer to my skin problems. And all this time, it had been in every Asian store for no more than $3 a bar. Damn it.
  • Discovered the awesomeness of Lucas Papaw Ointment. Papayas.. is there anything they can't do?
  • Saw Panic! At The Disco (I don't give a rat's ass if they don't use the exclamation anymore)
and The Academy Is... at Acer Arena.
  • Celebrated with my friends as most of them turned 21.
  • Put away my 4-year-old iPod, Arthur, and upgraded to the new iPod touch, which I named William.
  • Bought numerous pairs of shoes.
  • Bought my first piece of Tiffany and Co. jewellery.
  • Wasted yet another year of my L's and clocked up ZERO hours of driving.
  • Said goodbye to my home of over ten years, and moved into a brand new townhouse in a different suburb.
  • I realised I took the frequency of services at my old train station for granted, and had to get used to one train every half hour.
  • Bought Guitar Hero World Tour and discovered what the fuss was all about.
  • Visited relatives in Melbourne.
Not much.. but who cares. 2008 seriously has flown by. Let's hope 2009 is even better :D

Last weekend...

I went to Melbourne to visit relatives and attend the christening of my mom's nephew, RJ. Does that make him my second-cousin? I don't know.

Anyways, Melbourne was great. I just wish it could have been warmer. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and left on Monday morning, and it was about 20-22 degrees celsius.

Everyone had been telling me about the great shopping and to be honest, it was what I was most excited about. Unfortunately, since my stay was so short, I only got to visit DFO Essendon. Not too disappointed though! The Essendon one is so much better than the one we have here in Homebush.

I bought:
  • Diana Ferrari peeptoe slingback heels (size 5.5..yesss!)
  • Lee Riders low rise super skinny jeans (I love these so much, I bought a pair in another colour) from Just Jeans
  • Two singlets (including one with vinyl records printed all over it, LOVE LOVE LOVE) and a cardigan from JayJays
  • Two pairs of shorts (size 12 kids, lol) from the True Alliance outlet in Fitzroy
So yes. I had a good time. I just wish I could have stayed longer, to go to the city and check out the sights.. I really wanted to see that Eureka Tower.

Listened to Fall Out Boy's new album, Folie à Deux, yesterday. I love it. Especially Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet (don't FOB know that my brain and my fingers are getting sooo tired thinking of and typing out those damn song titles?), I Don't Care and She's My Winona. The album was available at JB Hi-Fi yesterday, but the US release date is the 16th of this month. How odd. While I was there, I saw the soundtrack for Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and a poster that said 'Coming to cinemas, March 2009'. Why do I have to wait that long?! :(
