I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Oh, Christmas.. we get so excited about you months and months in advance.. yet you arrive quickly and after one day, you're over.

My family and I spent Christmas at my house this year, and it was fun. We used to live in an apartment and we very rarely invited people over because there weren't enough square feet to accommodate more than 4 people at a time. (Okay, I'm exaggerating.) It was great because aaall my relatives from my mom's side came over- my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. There's nothing like preparing your house, doing last minute cleaning (i.e. vacuuming like crazy, making your bathrooms presentable and running around hiding things under your bed), then waiting at your front door and watching everyone arrive, family by family. But the best part is watching everyone laugh and have fun while being at your house. The night consisted of lots of food, dessert and Guitar Hero: World Tour. Oh yes, I plugged my wii in and we started playing at about 6pm.. and turned it off at about 11:30. I think I must have heard Eye of The Tiger at least 40 times last night. Everyone had a go, even my (colourblind) grandpa. He was surprisingly better at the drums than me. I can't even complete one minute of a song.

I ended up going to bed at 1am, and woke at 11. Mike bought me the season 1 boxset of The Monkees and I watched the first disc today. Knock it all you want, I don't care. I love it. Same goes for Perfect Strangers, which I found at JB Hi-Fi for $16! Now I'm just waiting for Welcome Back, Kotter. I wanted to check out the Boxing Day sales today but I really could not be bothered leaving the house. I do hope there's still some good stuff in my size.

I'm really enjoying my holidays. So far, I've spent most of the time watching tv shows on my laptop. I've just started watching Chuck (Josh Schwartz, you are amazing) and I've almost finished the first season of How I Met Your Mother. Yes, I know- but better late than never. I'm rather upset that Pushing Daisies was cancelled. It's quite disturbing to know that quality shows are being flushed down the toilet while Two and a Half Men is in its sixth (?) season.

I'm enjoying my holidays so much that I kind of don't want to go back to uni. I don't even know what units to do next semester! I was planning on majoring in Cultural Studies, but on second thought, I didn't really enjoy those classes that much. I really loved Linguistics, but job opportunities are there for grammarians?

I've noticed lots of my friends have been joining Twilight fangroups. Yeah I'm still not buying into that sparkly vampire shit.

I really can't believe Christmas is just one week away. Actually, scratch that- I can't believe 2009 is almost here.

The year went by so quickly that I keep stopping to recap what I actually did this year. Let's see...
  • I finished my first year of uni.
  • Learned to speak Spanish.
  • Found out Anthropology wasn't as exciting as I had thought.
  • Joined the '10 years to 30' club.
  • Coloured my hair pink, red and purple. One colour at a time, of course.
  • Cut my hair the shortest it had been since I was like, 10.
  • Celebrated my 3-year anniversary with my awesome boyfriend.
  • Bought wii fit with the intention of using it everyday. Used it religiously for a week, and afterwards only used it on the odd day when I had nothing else to do.
  • Discovered that I didn't need pricey branded products like ProActiv- simple, inexpensive papaya soap was the answer to my skin problems. And all this time, it had been in every Asian store for no more than $3 a bar. Damn it.
  • Discovered the awesomeness of Lucas Papaw Ointment. Papayas.. is there anything they can't do?
  • Saw Panic! At The Disco (I don't give a rat's ass if they don't use the exclamation anymore)
and The Academy Is... at Acer Arena.
  • Celebrated with my friends as most of them turned 21.
  • Put away my 4-year-old iPod, Arthur, and upgraded to the new iPod touch, which I named William.
  • Bought numerous pairs of shoes.
  • Bought my first piece of Tiffany and Co. jewellery.
  • Wasted yet another year of my L's and clocked up ZERO hours of driving.
  • Said goodbye to my home of over ten years, and moved into a brand new townhouse in a different suburb.
  • I realised I took the frequency of services at my old train station for granted, and had to get used to one train every half hour.
  • Bought Guitar Hero World Tour and discovered what the fuss was all about.
  • Visited relatives in Melbourne.
Not much.. but who cares. 2008 seriously has flown by. Let's hope 2009 is even better :D

Last weekend...

I went to Melbourne to visit relatives and attend the christening of my mom's nephew, RJ. Does that make him my second-cousin? I don't know.

Anyways, Melbourne was great. I just wish it could have been warmer. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and left on Monday morning, and it was about 20-22 degrees celsius.

Everyone had been telling me about the great shopping and to be honest, it was what I was most excited about. Unfortunately, since my stay was so short, I only got to visit DFO Essendon. Not too disappointed though! The Essendon one is so much better than the one we have here in Homebush.

I bought:
  • Diana Ferrari peeptoe slingback heels (size 5.5..yesss!)
  • Lee Riders low rise super skinny jeans (I love these so much, I bought a pair in another colour) from Just Jeans
  • Two singlets (including one with vinyl records printed all over it, LOVE LOVE LOVE) and a cardigan from JayJays
  • Two pairs of shorts (size 12 kids, lol) from the True Alliance outlet in Fitzroy
So yes. I had a good time. I just wish I could have stayed longer, to go to the city and check out the sights.. I really wanted to see that Eureka Tower.

Listened to Fall Out Boy's new album, Folie à Deux, yesterday. I love it. Especially Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet (don't FOB know that my brain and my fingers are getting sooo tired thinking of and typing out those damn song titles?), I Don't Care and She's My Winona. The album was available at JB Hi-Fi yesterday, but the US release date is the 16th of this month. How odd. While I was there, I saw the soundtrack for Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and a poster that said 'Coming to cinemas, March 2009'. Why do I have to wait that long?! :(

Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleonnn

You come and gooo...you come and gooo-oh-oh-oh.

*ahem* Anyways. I've moved! And this new house is wonderful. I'm so glad we found a place that no one had lived in before. Only trouble is that it's so new, we're all paranoid about making a mess and we vacuum every carpet and tile, and wipe every surface as soon as we notice a speck. Half my stuff is still in storage, but I actually think I could live without it. I'm doing fine with my clothing, my handbags and my uni stuff. Maybe I should organise a garage sale, or just sell those sealed boxes because I cbf.

The end of my uni semester is nigh. I only have two exams, and one is on a Saturday. The people in the linguistics department are fucking sadists.

If anyone has a spare $2500, I'd really like a new Macbook. My current laptop takes fucking forever to load and it doesn't even load half the programs in the taskbar. Seriously. The volume thingy doesn't even show up unless I open up the Control Panel. Urrrrgggh.

My mom says we might be going to Melbourne next month and if so, I can't friggin wait. She says the shopping in Melbourne is awesome.

I'd better go. I have a Spanish quiz tomorrow.. ¡Noooo!

Summer Hair = Forever Young

I just logged on and checked when I posted my last blog, and HOLY CRAP- August 25th?!

Nothing much has happened, though. I'm currently near the end of my mid-semester break from uni. Two weeks seriously go by sooooo quickly.

Actually, forget the bit where I said nothing much has happened- I bought a new iPod touch! I was a bit annoyed that Apple didn't increase the capacity with the new models, but whatever, I'm happy with my 32GB baby. Arthur really is old (4 years old, if I'm not mistaken) and life with a nice colour touchscreen video-capable iPod is wonderful. I really love the external volume controls, the wi-fi connectivity and the cool apps. I've named my iPod William (after William Beckett, hahaha) and even if I'll never hook up with his namesake, at least I can be sure iPod William and I will have many good times together. :P

The weather is HOT! YES!! Not quite sweltering yet, but being in the mid-20s to almost 30 degrees is fan-freaking-tastic. Singlets, shorts and Havaianas- oh how I've missed you.

My dad's cousin Claire (who is about my age and thus I would rather refer to her as my cousin) and her family have invited me to spend Christmas and New Year's at her place. You're probably thinking, 'yeah so what?', but get this. Her place is in Texas. And she's planning to take me to New York too. It's such a wonderful and thoughtful offer that I really couldn't believe it when she asked. It'll be odd though, to board a plane and leave my most favourite season, technically go back a day or so and arrive in a country that will be in my least favourite season. Oh well, a white Christmas can't be that bad. The thought of travelling on my own weirds me out a bit. I'm going to miss my family, friends, Mike... And what will I do on the plane by myself? LOL, maybe I should worry about these things once everything's confirmed.

Anyways, I'm procrastinating again. I have two essays due (one for Linguistics and one for Sociology *dies*) and a Spanish quiz to study for. Urrrrrrrrgh. The quiz is next Tuesday and the essays are due next Friday, so I think I still have a day to waste.

With the exception of William, I can't say I've bought anything worthy of note lately.. Got a copy of Choke by Chuck Palahniuk off eBay for $16 yesterday.. That's about it. *shrugs* I need to buy more shoes. Okay okay- not so much a need, but you know how it is.

....hm...what else to say... I've got a strange addiction to Twix Pods.

LOL, shoot me if I ever end up looking like this.

Quote of The Week

Mom: *picks up apple* "Is this a Fuji?"
Asian store owner: "....is apple."

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Woo! Nice weekend.

This weekend was a good one, because I actually did stuff.

Last night, I went to my good friend Christine's 21st birthday dinner. It was so nice to catch up and see some friends I haven't seen since 2005. Interesting nursing stories were thrown around, including one about an old person with a fudgie in their hand, and another about a "gangrenous penis". Theresa amused me greatly by adding a cheesy seafood vol au vent to her dessert plate, and downing two cups of hot water.

I had a pretty good retail therapy experience today. I bought:
  1. Two dresses from some Asian boutique
  2. An Esprit sweater (from $80 down to $40)
  3. A Myer kids cardigan (yes, I fit in them)
  4. 1837 Tiffany and Co ring
I'm glad I now have two options when it comes to what to wear to my friend Karen's party. I was looking in Myer and David Jones, and everything was either not available in size 6 or out of my budget. In David Jones, I saw this black ruffled dress that I loved, and my heart sank when I looked at the tag- it was an Akira Isogawa and it was $1099. *dies*

I'm still revelling at my first Tiffany and Co. Ahh...it's so shiny. The Tiffany store is awesome. If I could, I'd buy one of everything.

Damn it, I still hate Winter. I hate the cold, the rain and how the wind makes me feel ten times worse.

Apparently my dad heard the neighbors screwing last night. If I hear them tonight, I'm going to march up to their door, knock and tell them to shut the hell up.

Weirdest Spam Emails Ever

From: "Dania Eneida"
Subject: "No Study! Buy University D1ploma/Degree/Bacheloor/MBAa/PhDd & Deliver to you..."
Snippet: "It cost you NOTHING!"

OMG. All this time I've been wasting at Macquarie.. when I could get my "Bacheloor" for "NOTHING!" And why on Earth didn't my GP stay at medical school to achieve a "PhDd" instead of just a PhD? Come on, doc.

----------------------------------------------------

From: "Selmeczki"
Subject: "Son Stabbed To Death, Mother Injured"
Snippet: "Boy kills cats and eats them"

...Well that was an interesting segue.

----------------------------------------------------

From: "Looman"
Subject: "Britney Spears Announces Third Pregnancy"
Snippet: "You are given a warning letter from the IT department"

With a name like Looman, he ought to be a plumber. I think I'll be contacting the "IT department" to tell them about the shit (heh) that Loo is flooding (heh heh) everyone's inboxes with.

----------------------------------------------------

From: "Doucette"
Subject: "Anne Hathaway dairies seized by FBI"
Snippet: "X-Files set to open with bigger success than Dark Knight"

How on Earth did the FBI fit all those cows into their evidence lockers? And a movie bigger than The Dark Knight? Puh-lease.

----------------------------------------------------

From: "Dyke"
Subject: "Spongebob Denies Reports That He's Gay"
Snippet: "Gay Men Perceive Each Other As Homophobic"

...LOL. Just....LOL.

----------------------------------------------------

From: "Futoma"
Subject: "Your bank information may be compromised"
Snippet: "Look at him, such good looks make him popular with the girls."

Uh...okay buddy, are you going to help me with my banking security or what?

Back to uni next Tuesday. It sucks that internet time will be classified as 'procrastinating', as of next week. I'm feeling so lazy and unmotivated. I don't wanna go baaaack..

I've really enjoyed waking up at 8:30am, wasting all my time on YouTube and the Vogue forums, and watching The Morning Show.

My bandwidth has been shaped, damn it. So I'm gonna have to wait an hour for this Gossip Girl episode to load. I wish Gossip Girl was on free-to-air.

Had quite a bit of retail therapy yesterday. I bought a little surprise for Katrina, a PAC-MAN belt for Mike and a scratch-n-sniff PEZ shirt and plaid shirtdress for me.. and that was just on eBay. I really like the clothes from Target now- I got a nice black satiny white-polka dotted shirt and a striped long-sleeve henley that reminds my mom of Beetlejuice. I also got a cute pair of Free Fusion denim shorts. Bought them full price, but at $30 I honestly don't mind. And finally, I got two Beatles shirts from the Virgin Music section of Myer for...$10! Yes, $10 for both! Thanks to my 50% Pulse discount. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the RRP on the tags (under the 'reduced to $9.99' sticker) was $39.99 each. It's not so much that I'm a bargain hunter.. the bargains just seem to find me. :P

This morning when I dropped my sister off to school, the weather was sunny and beautiful. Now it's cold, dark and windy again. Only one month of Winter to go.. Thank God.

By the way, when will someone invent an umbrella that won't flip over in the wind?

Can you feel it... (8)

Damn it, that ad is catchy.

...So many bloody scarves too.

I can tell that I'll be voting (well, in my mind anyway.. I'm not actually going to spend any money on votes.. 4 votes = 1 bag of Strawberries and Cream, TYVM) for the guy who sings third. "The whooole world's coming together nowww", that guy.

The pale girl with pretty much WHITE HAIR and Ronald McDonald Red lippy freaks me out.

Bespectacled redhead ("all the colours of the world should beee") reminds me of Clay Aiken. The guy who sings after him kind of looks like a tool. lol.

I like the really cute young kid (woah okay, that sounded kind of pedo) but I'm wondering what he sounds like singing a whole song on his own.

"Whoo!" guy amuses me greatly.

O HAI Token Asian! Girl next to him sounds like she's singing "can you feel it in your baaaaallsss". Both make amusing faces. When I sing, I don't think I make weird faces until I play it back or watch myself sing in the mirror. I look like I'm having a hernia.

Anyways, ad is effective and I'm glad no one's caring about that lameass Natalie Gauci anymore.

Looking forward to Aus Idol 08 :D

In support of World Youth Day and Troy Critchley

I didn't actually go to any of the events this week, but what I saw on TV was just lovely... it makes me wish I had participated.

I was disgusted by the anti-Catholic groups though. I'm talking to you, all of you who marched, handed out rubbers and chanted "The Pope is wrong - put a condom on". Sure you don't agree with the Church's views, but it doesn't mean you need to make a mockery of the Catholic faith and deface images of the Pope.

I'm glad that the Pope apologised to the victims of sexual abuse. I hope those lecherous asshole priests burn in hell.

Speaking of assholes! I hate the idiotic people who are calling Troy Critchley a 'murderer'. Charged with multiple counts of homicide over a fucking accident! FUCK, no one told you to stand there. You dumbasses made the choice to stand there with your dumbass kids. You knew there was no barrier. And it was a charity event, for fuck's sake. Do you really think Troy's intention was to kill you all? FUCKING HELL. I think I'm pretty stupid, but some people just fucking amaze me.

This week I was...

  • not bothered to go out. I believe I have spent less than an hour outside.
  • amused that on Getaway, Natalie Gruzlewski picked up a knock-off Coach bag and said "Prada".
  • gagging while watching Eat To Save Your Life. Gunther von Hagens is amazing though.
  • slowly reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Honestly, it's not as 'unputdownable' as I thought it'd be.
  • grossed out by Two and a Half Men. It's not funny and I shudder at all the blatant sexual references. It's fucking 7pm. Little kids are still awake. Axe that shit.
  • appalled that Numbers is still on. WTF.
  • pleased to see that Michael C. Hall earned an Emmy nomination. He deserves to win. I don't love James Spader anymore.
  • wondering what to do with my tax refund. I've now decided I shall get my teeth whitened.
  • opening and closing my fridge and cupboards, expecting food to magically appear. lol.

It's been more than a year since I got my learner's licence, and I've only just decided to take up driving lessons. So my goal today is to get as many quotes as possible.

It's not so much that I'm lazy. I just keep forgetting. And I'm damn scared. Petrified, even. To have the responsibility, to be in control of a big lug of metal that could injure or kill someone. Aaaah! So yes, once I start driving, stay off the footpath.

I wii fitted for the first time in about a week today. My trainer got a haircut and new fringe.. I thought that was cute. I completed a good, much needed crocodile twist. I could really hear the cracks. I also clocked up 10 hours of activity! My piggy bank turned gold, and I was so proud. :D

I have decided that I want a Macbook Pro. The laptop I have now still works (bar the battery issues), but whatever. MBP is my new dream. My $2500 dream.

Trying to be a bookworm again.

What? Pleasure: An Almanac For The Heart, by Nikki Gemmell
When? Almost two weeks ago
Where? QBD Bookshop, Parramatta
Price? Was $25, bought it for $8
Why? There aren't many $8 books these days. To think, I was soooo close to buying this full price a couple of months ago, when I didn't even have time to read.

*evil laugh*

What? Princess Highway Devil hoodie
When? Two weeks ago
Where? Myer, Parramatta
Price? Was $60, bought for $40
Why? You can never have too many hoodies.

Yeah I know it needs an iron. Shut up.

What? Review dress
When? Must have been more than a month ago
Where? Myer, Macquarie Centre
Price? I'm sure it was originally $179, and I bought it for $19
Why? It's a size 6, which I can neeeever find. And who can just put a $19 (90% off) dress back on the rack?

Target has become so much nicer.

What? Zac Posen pleated skirt
When? Last week
Where? Target, Parramatta
Price? Originally $129.99, reduced to $59.99, bought for $45
Why? I needed a black skirt. And I dunno, the Zac Posen thing probably had something to do with it too.

I must have the smallest 20-year old feet.

What? Two pairs of Fiorucci flats
When? Last week
Where? Myer, Parramatta
Price? $19 each, originally $29.95
Why? Myer Mid-year stocktake sale

9 pairs of earrings, but only 2 ears

What? 9 pairs of heart-shaped earrings
When? Last week
Where? Diva, Parramatta
Price? Originally $9.95, reduced to $5, bought for $3
Why? Diva 'Nothing Over $5' sale

Wooooooo.

My holidays have been great so far. I really wish I was still able to wake up early though. I hate when the alarm goes off and I know I don't really have to get up, so I just snooze for an hour.

Now that I have time, I've been playing wii fit a bit more. When I turned the wii on on Monday, it told me that I hadn't played for 12 days. Yikes. I want my flat stomach back. Apparently it's best to eat lots for breakfast, a bit less for lunch and then just a bit for dinner. I am so not used to that. My breakfast is usually tiny and I stuff myself at dinnertime. Oh well, I'll see how I go.

I saw a girl wearing leggings and Havaianas today. Not footless leggings either, the ones that stretch and grip underneath the heel so they don't ride up. WTF is wrong with you. I feel like lending you some pants and flats. It's fucking cold, you idiot. This isn't the first time you've done it either. I've seen you before, don't think I didn't notice.

My fringe needs a trim, but I'm wondering whether or not I should get a haircut. I don't want to risk accentuating my fat face, but then long hair is so unmanageable. And hair does grow back. Hmmm.

Can't wait for payday tomorrow. $250 a fortnight isn't that much, but it's enough to buy a bag, a top, a jacket or set of earrings. Or all four, if you know where to go.

Aaah! That reminds me. I haven't posted my recent Good Buys. Okay, I'll do that now.

Quote of The Day

"Aw yer, I want some boots too. I want well-made ones but. I don't want ones that are made in Choyyyna. [friend points out her boots were only $80 or something] Are they made in Choyyyna? Yeah I bet they're made in Choyyyna."

-Yobbo-sounding yet normal-looking girl in the library

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH.

Exam day is over. It's a wonderful feeling, but I'm not really used to it. I mean, it's so weird to not have anything to worry about. It's weird to know that my semester grades are now out of my hands, there's nothing more I can do.

I was so worried my stomach would grumble during the exam (as it usually does in quiet rooms) but it behaved. For my anthropology exam, we were told to answer five out of the fifteen questions on the sheet, and THANK GOD the five topics I did study were there.

Aaaaah. So yes, here I am, not quite sure what to do now. I'm saying "this is great, glad it's over, next time I'm going to study more so I'm prepared and not freaking out like this again"... but I think we all know how I'll end up. ;)

Reasons I must pass my exams tomorrow

  1. To not disappoint my parents. This is, after all, my second attempt at uni and I'd better not mess it up.
  2. To not waste money. These books are around $50 each and I'm planning to sell them in good condition, not use them again because I failed.
  3. To not waste time. I already hated Anthro and Linguistics the first time, I don't want to have to do them again.
  4. If I redo the units, I'll have to graduate a bit later. (Heh, if I even get there.)
  5. I'm sure it's going to screw my GPA somehow.
  6. I already went through how many hours of lectures and tutes. I don't want that to all go to waste when I could have been doing other things (read: shopping or sleeping) instead.
Shit. Okay. I'm going to go study now.

Oh the flaaame treeees will bliiiind the weeeary driver (8)

I finally handed in my bastard 2000word Cultural Studies essay today. Ahhh. Now all I have to do is study for Anthro and Linguistics. It will be FUN.

I renewed my travel concession card, because the one I had was due to expire at the end of the month. After I signed the form and handed it to the bitch at the counter, she handed my card back and all she said was "that's it". Fuck you, cunt. Take some customer service classes. You are not better than me. Everyone else who works at uni is lovely and well-mannered.

...and just my opinion, but the worst kind of people are those who are ugly and bitchy. Seriously, you have nothing going for you. I understand people who are bitchy yet good-looking, but if you are FUG you are not helping yourself by being so damn snooty. If you are ugly but pleasant, then at least people can say "oh well, at least s/he's got a nice personality". So lighten the fuck up.

Had an argument with Mike today. He doesn't understand that just because I walk into a shop and spend a couple of minutes in it, it doesn't mean I have to buy anything. And just because I pick something up from the shelf or table, it doesn't mean I'm obligated to buy it either- I have the right to put it back down and keep looking. Bloody MEN.

I'm going bowling on Saturday night with some friends and I am so excited. Sure, I'm going to make an ass of myself -because the only kind of bowling I'm good at is on that lovely wii- but who cares. I miss my friends far too much, and I'd rather humiliate myself than skip an opportunity to hang out.

I saw the Sex and The City movie. I've never seen an episode of the series, but I still thought it was okay. One of my favourite parts was when Charlotte shit herself. I was like, 'serves you right for dissing Mexico and eating all those pudding cups'. I still maintain my belief that Sarah Jessica Parker's face looks like someone's foot. Bitch is foul. Plus, she snagged Matthew Broderick. Double hate. Loved all the dresses and bags in the movie though. I liked Lilly's cupcake-shaped purse and Carrie's Eiffel Tower one.

But where were you that night...

Woooooo when was the last time I blogged?

I've been getting more shifts at work lately and it freaking rocks. I really do love me some money. I wish I was paid weekly though. Actually, no, I'm fine with being paid fortnightly. I'd probably have a negative balance in my account if I was paid every week.

I went into Myer late yesterday afternoon and I found some tights and fingerless gloves, $5 a pair. Tightass? Yes. But I don't care. I love Miss Shop.

Today it was pouring and I fucking hated it. I hate getting the ends of my jeans (especially skinny jeans urgh) and the arms of my jacket wet. That cold, wet, clingy feeling is disgusting and once you notice it, you can't stop thinking about it until you're dry again. Urrrrgh.

I had my final Spanish assessment today- it was the speaking component with my classmate, Andrew. I felt so bad because I totally forgot my lines and my teacher gave me a look that said "child, you are a disappointment and a disgrace. Tu estas tonto." But anyways, at least it's over.

Friday will be my last day of the semester. Unbelievable. Time is seriously flying and it creeps me out. (I have a feeling I've said that before.) Can't wait to start some new units. I love newness. I'll be taking Sociology next semester, and I'll definitely continue Spanish. I've currently got a credit average in Linguistics, but I'm not sure I want to do the next unit. It's a little more difficult and annoying than I thought it'd be. I got my Anthropology essay back and I passed, thank God. It was so rushed and half-assed, I was expecting way lower.

It was Mike's birthday on Sunday. I'm infamous for giving shitty presents and never knowing what to get. I just told him I would go shopping with him and let him choose his present. I'm such a stupid slack bitch. Don't worry Mike, next year I promise I will think about it and buy your present in advance.

I will follow you anywhere...

Wow, it's been a while since I posted a blog.

Nothing much has really happened since then. Handed in a bunch of rushed essays, procrastinated a lot, daydreamed heaps in class, you know it.

The guy who plays Prince Caspian in the new Narnia movie really does look like William Beckett. In the ads, anyway. So much so that Mike and I say "BILLVY!" everytime we walk past that poster at uni. The new Indiana Jones movie comes out on Thursday, and I'm working in ticketbox on Saturday. Woo-frickin-hoo. I haven't even had a chance to work with the new system yet.. my training session was back in March and I've forgotten most of it. Forgive me if I serve you this weekend and it takes 5 minutes to print your tickets.

Oh, I have wii fit now. It's awesome, so much fun. I love the yoga poses, Hula Hoop, Step and Rhythm Boxing. My balance and posture are so bad, and I'm hoping playing wii fit daily can correct them. Maybe I can lose my spare tyre too. lol.

I love The Click Five! That Kyle Patrick (aka Dickherber, what an awkward last name.. like that other musician whose last name is Cockburn WTF) is a hottie. I didn't get to see them in concert last week though. Boo.

I've been taking Metamucil lately and no, it's not because I'm constipated. Clever marketing and my dad's constant testimonials convinced me to try it as a detox to "cleanse my insides". I'm so sure it's working. My skin has honestly never looked better. It's becoming smoother and less shiny. I think it's the combination of Metamucil and the papaya soap I'm using. Papaya soap is wonderful. All this time I've been wasting my time on these expensive products, when all I needed was available in Filipino stores, averaging about $2-3 a bar.

Listening to: 7 Weeks - Gym Class Heroes (feat. William Beckett)

Quote of The Day

*shakes fist* "Blame Patrick Stump!"

-JB Hi-Fi employee, after selling out of The Cab's new album, Whisper Wars

I'm in my Spanish class right now. I really can't be bothered doing any work.

I had a burger for lunch today and it was a bit burnt and smelled kind of like some weird chemical. I dubbed it 'Deathburger'. And ate it anyway.

Was late for my Cultural Studies tute this morning. Had to sit in the back and not on a table, because for some reason, some girls I have never seen before just decided to invade my class. What would be worse- being buried alive, or being conscious during cremation? With live burial, there's that whole 'OMG get me out of this underground box' claustro thing, but then with cremation, you're being burned. And the result has to be ashes, so you are freaking fully cooked until your bones are no longer solid. *shudder*

Reasons Why I Hate Cold Weather

  • Food gets colder more quickly.
  • In the words of that dolphin Snorky, "It's cold, it's wet. Every morning I wake up phlegmy."
  • Most of my wardrobe is suited to warm weather.
  • Havaianas can't be worn unless you want your toes to freeze and fall off.
  • You're asking for tonsillitis if you dare to eat ice cream.
  • It's so damn hard to get out of bed.
  • It's even harder to decide when you're really finished in the shower. I tend to just stand there under the warm water for a couple more minutes.
  • You can't rely on the air to dry your tresses anymore, unless you're happy to wait a couple of hours.
  • Runny noses.
  • Cold/flu.
  • Sneezing, coughing and sniffling.
  • Germsssssss.
  • The cold air induces loneliness.
  • Lack of motivation.
  • Frozen fingers make it hard to write in the morning.
  • Dry skin.
  • We endure shitty temperatures, but Sydney doesn't even get rewarded with snow.

Things I should do these holidays:
  • Study for the Anthropology test, which is on the first day back
  • Catch up on all those weekly readings
  • Do some research for my 1400wd Anthropology essay that requires a minimum of 6 sources
  • Watch Jarhead for Cultural Studies
  • Continue to wake at 7am and make the most of the day
  • Try to work off this excess flab
  • Realise that just because the food is there in the kitchen, it doesn't mean I should eat it all
  • Use up as much bandwidth as possible, before my dad uses it all on helicopter shit
  • Re-dye my hair
What I'll probably end up doing:
  • Read all my Anthropology notes the night before
  • Read a quarter of the weekly readings and stay behind
  • Find one source for my essay...wikipedia is a 'source'. Heh.
  • Lose my copy of Jarhead and have to rent it from Blockbuster again
  • Sleep in until 2pm
  • Spend most of my time on the couch and gain more weight
  • Consume everything that is edible in the fridge and pantry...in one sitting.
  • YooooouTuuuuuuube. (Hey, at least that's one thing to cross off that list.)
  • See how long I can keep my hair in this dirty, skunky, grey nanna state.

More colour, more delish

The long caramel looking bit is Leche Flan, pink and purple puto (steamed rice cake) topped with cheese and seriously not as bad as it sounds, and blue and pink cupcakes.

Had these at a family friend's kid's birthday party. One of the best and most colourful party dessert tables I've ever seen.

The marvel that is Deep Fried Ice Cream

What? Deep Fried Ice Cream
When? Couple of months ago
Where? Bow's Chinese Restaurant, Blacktown

I'm always so amused at how ICE CREAM can be DEEP FRIED. Apparently while it's still frozen, it's heaps colder than normal ice cream should be, so that when it goes in the frier, it doesn't melt. Or something.

Mmm...brownie.

Nut brownie made by my Aunty Marie. She rocks. Don't even try to staunch the flow of your drool.

Mmm...chocolate.

What? Minis Mix (Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way Midnight and Twix..if you couldn't read that), Lindor by Lindt and Cadbury Dairy Milk with popping candy
When? Who cares?
Where? ...

Decorate your ears as if they were Christmas trees

What? Two pairs of dangly earrings
When? A couple of weeks ago
Where? My eyebrow waxer's office
Price? $1 a pair (clearance sale)
Why? At $1 pair, why the hell not?

I just noticed a hair. Whoops.

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

I'm at uni early today. My tutorial isn't until 11am but I'm handing an essay in a day early.. because I can't be bothered coming in on my day off.

I also have to submit it to a site called Turnitin, which kind of freaks me out. Turnitin looks at your essay and then compares the content to a range of sources to make sure you haven't plagiarised. I haven't plagiarised (well, I'm sure I haven't...most of my ideas came out of my own head and I referenced what wasn't mine) but it still scares me.

Anyways, I only have one assignment left to work on and that's due in mid-May. Ahhhh.

I bought a new cardi from Sportsgirl yesterday and it's surprisingly very warm considering how thin and light it is.

I have a feeling that people behind me need to use this computer so I'll write again later. :P

Sunday, April 6, 2008

After finishing almost half a McCain oven pizza while watching Gladiators, I am wondering if I should try to strengthen my body. Everyone knows I am a weak little shit and I am out of breath after one flight of stairs. I've also gained a solid little Winnie The Pooh belly which makes me feel so gross.

Anyways. Panic At The Disco are coming in August and I am so damn excited. They're being supported by The Academy Is... which just doubles the awesomeness. William Beckett cut his locks but I'm sure I'll still wet myself when he walks onto that stage. I'm wondering what kind of ticket I should buy. If I buy a Panic Pit ticket (general admission floor standing), I'm absolutely positive that I won't be close to the front. I won't be able to see behind all the taller girls who lined up at 6am. Hm.. I think I'll buy a ticket for the closest seated area and utilise the zoom function on my camera.

I'm procrastinating right now. (Big surprise.) I have a linguistics exercise and a thousand-word cultural studies essay due this week. Urrrgh. Everything else about uni is wonderful though. Milk Duds are sold at the uni convenience store (along with other Hershey's chocs) and I'm in looove.

I've decided not to get a new laptop anymore because the one I have now isn't dead yet. I'm thinking about using my money to buy some new clothes instead. The weather is now cold (damn it!) and I am in desperate need of cardigans and jackets. I'm kind of getting sick of hoodies.. maybe I'm in the early stages of this thing called growing up. Aging issues aside, I want a jacket that is feminine but not too 'old'. And I'd like a pair of black boots too. Wish me luck in finding these items in the right style, colour and size. I'm a size 6-8 in tops and size 5 in shoes. Boooo.

Random Thought #1

I wish that everytime my dad logged onto a computer, it would freeze. This is the bazillionth time we've gone past our bandwidth limit more than a week before the end of the month. You're so unfair, dad. Now it's going to take so long to download all those slides for uni, download those lecture mp3s and watch the videos I want on YouTube. And don't say it's a shared connection and we all used that 10GB equally. You know you watch and download the most. Heck, you probably even download in your sleep.

FUCKING HELL.

Mac. PC. Mac. PC. Mac. PC. WTF mannnnn.

Just when I decided that I'd take advantage of the Apple student discount and get a Macbook, I come across websites that encourage me to go for the Sony VAIO CR35 instead (my runner up). A part of me wants to give the Macbook a go because I keep hearing "it just works! The OS is more stable! iMovie! Photo Booth!", but I want to get another PC because I'm damn lazy and want to stick to what I know. Plus the VAIOs are sexayyy and come in pink.

My needs:
  • Generous hard drive
  • Good battery life
  • Memory card reader (MemoryStick and SD)
  • DVD reader and writer
  • 14" screen is fine
Today was a good day. My linguistics teacher cancelled today's 9am lecture, so I got to sleep in. (She informed us about the cancellation on Tuesday.) Mike and I went to Westfield after my tutorial. Went through our usual routine: buying popcorn chicken snackboxes, walking around discussing things we'd done and people we met during the week, and going to JB Hi-Fi and not buying anything. Mike's new thing is playing with Photo Booth on the 20" Macs. LOL today he found out that when you click the 'X' on a picture, it doesn't delete it- just sends it to the trash. So all those ridiculously hideous warped pictures he took over the past couple of weeks just went in the trash, probably to the amusement of some JB Hi-Fi employee.

I tried a mud mask today. My skin feels nice and clean, not oily at all. I really need to find some new skincare products. Clinique was okay, but I still got spots and my nose was like Blackhead City.

My aunty gave me some American chocolate yesterday- Milky Way, Milky Way Midnight, Snickers, Twix and 3 Musketeers. Funny thing is that Milky Way is just like a Mars Bar, and 3 Musketeers is pretty much Australian Milky Way in a different wrapper.

Man. When will my dad realise that the N word is offensive?

Two good eBay wins that I forgot about

What?
Strapless blue and cream Cooper St dress
When? ...
Where? eBay
Price? Won it for $28
Why? Good bargain, seller looked after it well.. and I needed something to wear to an upcoming Christening. :P

What? Tan-coloured strapless dress (looks white in the pic)
When? Same day as the other dress, whenever it was
Where? eBay
Price? Won it for $13.50
Why? The animals at the end of the dress totally won me over.

No, I will not name this post 'These Boots Are Made For Walkin'". That's lame.

What? BNIB (Brand New In Box) Switch Cowboy Boots
When? Probably a month or two ago
Where? eBay
Price? Seller bought them for $159, I won the auction and paid $78.50 (lol)
Why? Because they're goooorgeous. Good bargain too. The heel is a bitch though. I'll have to wear them to occasions and events that require minimal walking.

ZOMG RED HAIRRRR

The time we should be thinking about Jesus' suffering, but end up eating our weight in chocolate

Wonder what kind of Easter eggs/bunnies I'm getting. I want one of those Kinder bunnies. Mmm.

The Passion of The Christ was on last night and once again, I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole film. Poor Jesus. He made such a big painful sacrifice so I could live, yet here I am being a selfish materialistic glutton idiot. Sorry God. :/

Gumboots!

What? Gumboots :D
When? Two weeks ago
Where? Pumpkin Patch, Westfield Parramatta
Price? I think they were around $35
Why? Because I had been wearing heeled boots that day, and my feet were killing me.

Sucks to be 20

..but if it means celebrating and eating awesome food, then whatever. It's cool.

What? Fettucine carbonara (looks gross but was diviiiine), American (cheese and spicy pepperoni) and The Lot pizzas, and a Chocolate Mud Log
When? My 20th birthday (the 19th)
Where? Quiet dinner at home, fettucine and pizzas from La Porchetta in Blacktown, and cake from Michel's Patisserie

I ♥ Mr Men and Little Miss!

What?
An orange Mr Happy shirt and a blue Little Miss Shy shirt
When? That day I was meant to be at Uni Orientation
Where? SES, Macquarie Centre
Price? Mr Happy was $9.95 and I think Little Miss Shy was $6.95
Why? Because you can never have too many shirts with characters on them.

And while we're on the subject of Mr Men and Little Miss, look what Mike got me for my 20th birthday!

Thursday, March 13, 2008

I'm trying to send a ringtone I made to my phone, but Bigpond MMS is being a fucktard. Grrr.

Speaking of fucktards, I can't believe what a dumbass (Bb. Pilipinas '08 winner) Janina San Miguel is. If Bb. Pilipinas winners are meant to represent Filipina women, we have such a unbelievably poor example this year. I know, I know.. it's mostly a beauty pageant, but my God. Brains should always rank higher than looks. But oh well. If anything, it inspires me to keep learning and focus on my own grey matter.

I can't believe I'm coming to the end of my third week at Macquarie. I've read so much.. but I wonder how much I'm actually taking in. To make the text easier to read, I bit the bullet last night and started highlighting my readers. I was reluctant to highlight because I was planning to sell my books on textbookexchange at the end of the semester.. Guess I'll have to list them as being in 'Good' condition instead of 'Excellent'. Less money back for me..boo.

I'm now 100% familiar with where all my classrooms and lecture theatres are. My Mondays suck because I have 5 hours of classes and no breaks. I have to snack really quickly while I'm walking to the next class. And as everyone who knows me well knows, I like to eat slowly and really enjoy what I'm eating. The burgers from the uni food court are awesome though. I just realised I won't be able to have one tomorrow, because Lent means I can't eat red meat on Fridays.

I can't believe I'll be turning 20 in less than a week. Has it really been a year since my last birthday? lol. I have a feeling I'll keep forgetting about my blasted b-day. I bet someone will send me a birthday text on Wednesday morning, and I'll remember then.

My seriously weird dream from last night..in point form!

  • I was at work, and had to clean Cinema 4 by myself.
  • Just about every seat had a popcorn box on the floor in front of it.
  • I ran around and grabbed as many as I could.
  • The lights went down.
  • The trailers started playing.
  • A bazillion people started coming in.
  • I thought 'fuck it'. And told the customers that there wasn't anything I could do because no one came to help me.
  • A couple of minutes later a manager told me he was in there and said he asked each customer how their experience was. I thought he was going to tell me off, but surprisingly none of the customers complained gave feedback.
  • Then all of a sudden I was no longer at work.
  • Mom was driving a bus and I was the only passenger.
  • She started speeding.
  • The bus almost hit the stationary army green Jeep in front.
  • Mom and I were freaked out.
  • Then I was in a house that was definitely not mine.
  • But I was on the phone.
  • I was talking to a friend I still talk to every now and then, but I'm not so close to anymore.
Man. What the hell is up with my dreams? The night before last night, I dreamt that me and my high school friends were at a boarding school that was right next to the Children's Hospital. Then all of a sudden we were all part of The Biggest Loser and Michelle was talking to me while I was sweatily doing push-ups. She asked me what my friends meant to me, I answered, then she told us that "since the format of the previous series' didn't work", we could choose our own teams. WTF. I'm messed up.

  2. If you are a male high school student and you disrespect older people, try to fight people for no real reason, walk around town like you fucking own the place and the word 'bro' is in your everyday vocabulary, you deserve to be whipped around the legs until you are swimming in your own blood. It will make up for all those years your parents didn't discipline you. Stop being a dickhead.
  3. Stop fucking asking for comments on your myspace pictures. If people want to comment, they will. So shut the fuck up. It's like you're saying "awww hey I know I look good in this pic, but I just want to hear it from you teeheeheehee!!!!111!!!1!"
  4. OMG this unbelievably lame scabby buttinski girl was on the bus yesterday. I didn't know if she was drunk, stoned or really retarded. "Are you talking about Guitar Hero? They should make violin hero.. trumpet hero..and electric guitar hero.."
  5. Samantha Who? is so not funny. How come this shit is still on, and why aren't Psych and Don't Forget The Lyrics on anymore?! And why does Smallville have to be on Ten HD?! And and and and why can't we have Gossip Girl on free-to-air?!!!

My most favourite princess story EVER

As recited by my Cultural Studies lecturer today..

The Independent Princess

Once upon a time, in a land far away,

A beautiful, independent, self assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat, contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the princess' lap and said:

"Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me.

One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper, young prince that I am and then, my sweet, we can marry and setup housekeeping in yon castle with my mother, where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel grateful and happy doing so."

That night, as the princess dined sumptuously on a repast of lightly sauteed froglegs seasoned in a white wine and cream sauce she chuckled to herself and thought:

"I don't fucking think so."

And she lived happily ever after.

The end.

Ahhh. My first week of uni is over. While I don't think uni is 'ZOMG so amazingggggg' and I'd want to go everyday, it's still great. The units I've chosen have been so interesting. I actually paid attention to the whole Linguistics lecture yesterday- one whole hour without being distracted!

Textbooks are a pain in the ass to buy though. Since I haven't been getting many shifts at work (and if I do, they're a measly fucking three hours.. so I get about $40 for that), I've had to ask my parents to lend me money. Well, it's not really lending. My mom says that she's my parent, so she doesn't really have a choice if there's something I need, and she's been buying me things for years anyway. I can't wait for tax refund time. Only about four more months... yay!

I got my boots. My sister seems to enjoy walking in them more than I do. The heels are so damn high, I think I'll save them for special occasions. Or events that require minimal walking. They were quite uncomfortable to walk in yesterday, I didn't know if it was because they needed to be broken in or because I'm not used to wearing heels. Oh well. Doesn't matter because now I have... GUMBOOTS! Finally! Well, they're not the kind I was dreaming of (plain black and knee-high), but they'll do. I found them at Pumpkin Patch. lol. They're mid-calf, purple and have blue hearts and blue rainbow-like arcs on them. Size 35. I also wanted a cute pink pair of casual flats, but they were too tight on the left foot and too loose on the right. I know everyone says 'yeah one foot is always bigger than the other' but mine are seriously two different sizes.

I saw Meet The Spartans yesterday. It was as shitty as I expected it to be. The only part I really liked was the American Idol parody. With Sanjaya and the crying pigtailed girl. LOL. And Ryan Seacrest voluntarily jumping into the pit of death. ("Seacrest ooouuuuuuutttt!")

A girl I went to primary school with has sent me a friend request on facebook. I'm thinking 'Hello?! What's wrong with you? We were never really friends, why would I want to add you?' This is the girl that got mad at me in year 3 because I wrote using two lines, while she only wrote on one. Seriously.

Got home at about 1am this morning. Last night, I went to a family friend's birthday party. He was introducing my dad to one of his friends, and when he got to me, he forgot my name. Wanker.

Anyways! I'm going to go eat because it's 12:30 and I didn't have breakfast.

Fuuuck. What a great day off.

Right now, it's damn pouring and looks like a thunderstorm is imminent. I need to shower, but I wont start until I'm sure there's no chance the power will cut out.

Today is my first day off from uni. It's been shitty so far. I woke up with cramps. I heard the phone ringing down the hall and ran to get it.. and when I picked it up, the caller had just hung up. It's bucketing down and I still haven't found gumboots. I saw some at Westfield a week ago, but they were so damn huge that Ian Thorpe would have to wear them with a couple of extra pairs of socks and some insoles. Heh, Ian Thorpe. What is he doing nowadays? I had the biggest crush on him back in year 7. *shudder*

I really should be reading something for Cultural Studies. Heck, it's only 10:40am. I have all day. Well, until my eyebrow wax appointment at least. Yessssss finally, my eyebrows have been looking like gross caterpillars lately.

I withdrew from my French class. The teacher was far too anal about us putting on a perfect accent. I could tell it wasn't going to be as fun as high school French. She pointed at 'e' and 'è', and said "zees eez prrronounce urgh..and zees eez prrronounce urgh..see de deeferrense?" To which everyone laughed and thought 'WTF' (or 'vat ze fuck' en français). But yes. I withdrew from that class and I'm now studying Spanish. I had my first Spanish class yesterday, and it's so so sooo much better. I was amused that I was so familiar with a lot of words already, since Tagalog is pretty much based on Español. I found it funny that the Filipino word for stinky (baho) was pronounced the same as the Spanish word for short (bajo). The teacher also mentioned that 'pajero' is pronounced 'pa-hhhero' (I put three h's there, because I don't know how else to type that sound that resembles the hocking of phlegm) and means 'wanker'. I'd hate to be a Pajero driver then.

First Day At Macquarie Uni

I can't put 'First Day At Uni' as the title, because I went to UWS for a semester before I decided I wanted to get the fuck out of there.

Hot damn, Macquarie is 404358 bajillion times better than UWS Parramatta.

I think the highlight of the day was seeing this guy in a hotdog costume, with 'W.A.N.G' printed on the back. Close second were the Caucasians promoting the Anime Club.

I had two lectures today: Gender Studies and Cultural Studies. Very interesting. (For once, I'm not saying that sarcastically.) In Gender Studies, I watched an episode of some ABC program from 1996 about Australia's first refuge for victims of domestic violence, 'Elsie'. No woman deserves to be struck by any man. Ever. I can't believe some men think women bring it upon themselves by nagging, and that they deserve it. I was about 15minutes late for my Cultural Studies lecture, because it was straight after Gender Studies, which ran a couple minutes overtime. Next week, I'm going to make sure I leave Gender Studies at least 5 minutes early so I don't miss anything, and I can find a seat without everyone staring and thinking 'heh.. look at that bumbling fool'.

Urghhhh the total cost of my textbooks is higher than the current available balance in my account. It doesn't help that I just bought cowboy boots off eBay last night. I found one of my texts on textbookexchange.com.au, but the damn seller hasn't replied. I wish she would. I don't want to have to buy it brand new, or (God forbid) have to buy a copy with yellow pages off eBay.

But hey! Cowboy boots! I can't wait for them to arrive. Actually, I don't mind if they take a week or two, I just want them to fit perfectly. I've already brainstormed some outfit ideas. lol.

My sleeping pattern is so fucked.

These afternoon naps are doing me no good. Last night I tossed and turned so much, I actually prayed and asked God to make me tired and help me fall asleep.

I'm annoyed because I looked at the uni timetables, and Anthropology and French are on at the same time. Grr. I really wanted to do both in my first semester :( I'm also annoyed at the moment because I think I jammed a cotton bud too far in my right ear this morning.. and each time I burp, it fucking hurts.

Yesterday was Australia Day. My family and I watch the fireworks at Parramatta Park every year. The fireworks didn't start until 10pm, but my parents insisted we go early to get a good spot. We got there at 9pm (I know WTF), and just sat, listened to Spiderbait (they played an hour-long set) and applied Aerogard for a while. Turns out, we pretty much had the best spot without being too close. Fireworks went on for a while, and were louder than I thought. I think being shot would be a bit quieter. The place ended up really smoky and smelled pretty bad too. Like 100 people farted at the same time. Not that I've been around to witness such an olfactory disaster. But you know.

I hate the damn Superwall application on facebook. I was checking out my friend Karen's profile and someone had posted a gross picture of a boob. It came with a warning to wash newly bought bras before wearing them. It was obviously photoshopped by some sad idiot wanting to scare women, but I still can't get that image out of my mind. All those holes in that boob.. looked like a freaky game of Whac-A-Mole.

I really can't believe it.

I would have expected this kind of news from a another celebrity.

My mom called me this morning and woke me up. "Heath Ledger is dead. From a drug overdose." I felt a slight jolt in my heart, then remembered Brad Renfro's drug-related death last week, and thought that maybe she was just confused. I said no, and told her. Then she said "no, it's definitely Heath Ledger- didn't you see the news?" At that moment, my eyes fully opened and I was no longer half-asleep. I ran to my computer and hoped and hoped and hoped that my homepage (BigPond news) did not have a picture, a story or anything Heath-related on it.

...but it did.

Heath Ledger
(1979 - 2008)

In my dreams, you'll always be singing on those bleachers.
